Hello ! On request, I will post some tutorials I used for my Photoshop-designs !
Though, these tutorials are for Adobe Photoshop Creative Suite 2, Creative Suite 3, and for Creative Suite 4 (More info: http://www.adobe.com/ )
More to come !
Tutorial #1: Swingy lines:
The first tutorials will be about the swingy lines I used in this design:
It’s very simple, I will try to explain this in a few steps listed below here.
Step 1:
Open up a new document in Photoshop, something like 800x600px. It doesn’t matter anyway. And fill it with a black colour for the background.
Step 2:
Make a new layer and give it some kinda name like ‘Lines’.
After that, select your Brush Tool (B) and choose 2 colors from the Color-pallet. (One as a foreground-color, and one as a background-one.)
After that, draw 2 straight lines in the new layer you just created, something like this:
Step 3:
After drawing the lines, go to Filter > Blur > Motion Blur (Make sure your layer with the lines is selected in de Layer-pallet). Set the Angle to 0° and the Distance to 38px.
After that, press OK, and the lines should be a little bit blurred.
Step 4:
With your Lines-layer selected, go to Filter > Distort > Twirl… And set the Angle around 472° (You can expermimentate with this though…)
Click OK, and see what you’ve got ! After this, you can repeat Step 2-4, if you want more that one line
Result:
Tutorial #2: Teleport Effect:
Here I will explain in a very short tutorial how to get this teleport-effect :
Step 1:
Open a new document with 800x600px. And reset your colors to black and white (hotkey: D).
Step 2:
Go to Filter > Render > Clouds. Some clouds should appear with the colors you just chose (Black and white).
After that, go to Filter > Pixelate > Mezzotint… And chose Long Lines from the drop-down menu below.
Step 3:
After that, go to Filter > Blur > Radial Blur. And set the Amount to 100. Blur Method needs to be Zoom, and set the Quality to Best.
Click OK, and you will see your teleport !
Step 4: (Additional)
As you will see, it’s all grey, and we want to give it some colour. Go to Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation… (Hotkey: Ctrl + U).
There will pop-up a screen, Hue is the color, Saturation is the amount the Hue will be shown, and Lightness is the amount of light added.
Make sure to tick Colorize in the right corner.
I used this settings:
Tutorial #3: The Text Effect used in the Header:
Hello again !
First of all, sorry for the titel of this 3th tutorial, but I couldn’t find something better
Here, I will explain how to get the text effect used in my header above.
Step 1:
Open up a new document in PS, 550x150px. (Same size as header). And fill it with a black colour. (Doesn’t need to be exactely black, can be grey or something though…)
Take your Text Tool, and type in some kind of text in WHITE (like your name or something.)
Step 2:
Go to Filter > Stylize > Wind. PS should ask if you want to rasterize your layer, click OK.
Method should be Wind and Direction From the Right.
(Yes my name is Dries
)
Step 3:
Now we need to rotate the text, and do it again.
To do this, go to Edit > Transform > Rotate 90° CW. After that, go to Filter > Stylize > Wind again. (Or use Hotkey Ctrl +F).
After that, rotate it again (Hotkey: Shirt + Ctrl + T), and rotate it again, use Wind, Ctrl +F, Shirt + Ctrl + T. And after that, just rotate it (Shift + Ctrl + T). DON’T USE THE WIND ANYMORE !
Step 4:
Only thing we need to do now, is to give it some colour. There are 2 ways to do this:
1. Go to Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation (Hotkey: Ctrl + U).
There will pop-up a screen, Hue is the color, Saturation is the amount the Hue will be shown, and Lightness is the amount of light added.
Make sure to tick Colorize in the right corner.
Experiment a bit with this
2. Go to the layer’s Blending Options by going to Layer > Layer Style > Blending Options…
Add an Inner Glow with these settings: The red colour is #d91f24 .
So there you go ! Have fun !
